YKS is Türkiye's central university entrance exam, run by ÖSYM. Its first session, TYT (Temel Yeterlilik Testi), is taken by every candidate: 120 questions, 40 Turkish, 20 social sciences, 40 basic mathematics and 20 science. Its score is needed for every programme, and it counts toward the final score for four-year programmes too.
Where the points are
- Turkish and basic mathematics are two thirds of the paper. They decide most TYT scores.
- Turkish rewards daily reading practice: paragraph questions are the largest group.
- Basic mathematics rewards speed on core topics: numbers, ratios, equations, problems, functions and basic geometry.
- Social sciences and science are shorter, but easy points if you cover the basics.
A weekly rhythm
- Every day: 20-30 paragraph questions and 20-30 maths questions, timed.
- Three days a week: one social sciences or science topic, then questions on it.
- Once a week: a full TYT practice exam in 165 minutes, then review every mistake.
- Keep an error notebook by topic. Retest weak topics a few days later.
Net matters: wrong answers reduce your score in YKS (four wrong answers cancel one correct one), so skipping a question you cannot solve is a real strategy.
How EXAMEV helps
The EXAMEV YKS TYT bank has 675 practice questions across all four TYT tests, with timed sessions and explanations.
