Final exams show the difference between reading and practising. Reading feels like understanding; answering questions tells you whether you can. This plan works for end-of-term exams from grade 10 to grade 12.
Two weeks out
- Write the exam timetable and the days available for each subject.
- Sit a short test in each subject before revising.
- Start with the weakest subject that comes first, not the easiest.
The last week
- 45-minute sessions: one lesson, ten questions, then read the explanations of what you got wrong.
- Memorisation subjects: short daily recall.
- Science: full worked steps, because steps earn marks.
The night before
- 1No new material.
- 2Redo the questions you got wrong before.
- 3One short timed test, then stop.
- 4Sleep early.
The fastest marks to win are the ones you lose on lessons you already know.
On the day
- Read the whole paper first.
- Never leave a question blank.
- Keep five minutes to check.
