Grade 12 biology in Egypt covers support and movement, hormones, reproduction, immunity, DNA and protein synthesis, and biology and earth sciences. Many questions are not 'what is' but 'why', 'compare' or 'label'. Each type has a pattern you can practise.
'Give a reason' (علّل): cause, then result
- Why are antibodies called immunoglobulins? Because they are proteins of the globulin type made by the immune system.
- Why is DNA ligase needed in replication? Because it joins the Okazaki fragments on the lagging strand into one continuous strand.
- Pattern: name the scientific fact, then link it to what the question asks with 'so' or 'which is why'.
Comparisons: same points, both sides
Compare asexual and sexual reproduction: number of parents (one / two), gametes (none / two fused gametes), offspring (genetically identical / varied). Use the same comparison points for both sides, ideally in a table.
Diagrams: label, then explain the change
Muscle contraction (sliding filaments): actin filaments slide over myosin, so the sarcomere shortens. The H zone and I band get shorter while the A band stays the same length. Questions often ask which part changes; draw it before and after if you are unsure.
Use the book's exact scientific terms. 'It gets smaller' loses marks where 'the sarcomere shortens' earns them.
How EXAMEV helps
The EXAMEV 3rd Secondary Biology Test Bank (Egypt) has 474 questions across all seven chapters, including explanation, matching and ordering questions, with an explanation for every answer. The examples here are EXAMEV practice; check the ministry's current specification for this year.
