The grade 12 Islamic education book has five units: the Holy Qur'an, Islamic creed, hadith, biographies, and Islamic jurisprudence. Most questions test one of a few skills. Revise by skill, not only by lesson, and memorise sacred texts only from the textbook.
Question types and how to revise them
- Terms (المصطلحات): learn each definition word for word, with one example. Test yourself by covering the definition.
- Giving reasons (التعليل): answer with the reason the book gives, starting with 'because'. Keep a list of 'why' questions per lesson.
- Citing evidence (الاستدلال): for each ruling, know the verse or hadith the book uses as evidence and say exactly how it proves the point.
- Hadith source and meaning (تخريج الحديث، دلالة الحديث): learn the narrator and the main lesson of each hadith in the book.
- Verses and reasons for revelation: memorise the verses set in the book, with their meaning and any reason for revelation it mentions.
A daily routine
- 115-20 minutes a day of recall: close the book and write what you remember.
- 2Check against the book and mark what you missed.
- 3Repeat missed items the next day and again three days later.
- 4Once a week, mixed questions across all five units.
Short daily recall beats long weekend sessions for memorisation subjects. Write answers from memory, then check.
How EXAMEV helps
