TR-YÖS is the central exam ÖSYM runs for international students who want to study at universities in Türkiye. It has 80 questions in 100 minutes, 40 numerical ability and 40 basic maths, and is offered in six languages. The best preparation is a TR-YÖS practice exam in the same format and time. Check dates, fees and how long results stay valid on osym.gov.tr each season, because some universities still run their own YÖS.
What is in the exam
- Numerical reasoning: sequences and patterns, number relations, reading tables and charts.
- Verbal and logical reasoning: analogies, classification, statements and inference, defined operations, Venn diagrams, ordering problems.
- Spatial reasoning: figure patterns, cube nets and folding, rotation and symmetry.
- Basic maths: numbers and divisibility, percentages, powers and roots, equations, functions, polynomials, logarithms, sequences and probability.
- Geometry: triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, solids and coordinate geometry.
How to use a practice exam
- 1Take one full practice exam first, before studying, to see your level.
- 2Write down the units where you lost most marks and drill only those for a week.
- 3Repeat a full exam every two weeks in real time: 100 minutes without stopping.
- 4Review every wrong answer with its explanation, not just the correct option.
Time is the biggest problem in YÖS: about one and a quarter minutes per question. Skip any question that takes more than two minutes and come back at the end.
How EXAMEV helps
The EXAMEV TR-YÖS bank has 1,306 questions in eight units and 32 lessons, including a whole unit of mixed mock sets, each with an explanation. The full exam is 80 questions in 100 minutes like the real test, the timed exam is 40 questions in 50 minutes, and practice sets are 25 questions. There are also three level banks: foundation, core and advanced.
